*Cue Noddy Holder shriek* IT'S CHRISTMAAAAAAAAS!!!! on Three From Leith, as festive fun & frivolity (and not a little vintage mulled wine) share the studio on a balmy December afternoon and jolly Mr M gets into the spirit of the season. It's “Ladies' Night” this week on Three From Leith, as sheer coincidence meant that the third artist arrived just in time to finally complete the trio that had been sitting forlornly as a duo for weeks. I really love it when shows come together like that, quite by surprise.

Time to head north of the border for this show, featuring three new Scottish bands – one of which has featured before, but the other two are TFL virgins! As well as the great new music, there's some great news. You'll have to listen to find out what that is, of course...

The Stormy Seas - Morbid Desire

The Modests - Lucy's Fur Coat / Don't Hold Back

Dead Boy Robotics - Gatherer On The Threshold (Single Edit)

Well, the laptop is alive again and just to prove it, I'm writing the shownotes on it once more from the comfort of the settee on a Sunday night! It's strange, all of this podcast timeshifting; recording on a Friday based on music selections I've received in the past, with a playlist I have roughly decided in advance, then shownoting it for a release date that's in the future (as a write). So – enjoy the music of the future from your pal in the past. Oh, and are we all using personal jetpacks & eating dinners in pill form yet?

The Kush - Aniseed

Stone Antica - They'll Strike You Out

Tone Puppets - India Kind (The Killaflaw Remix) / Ignore

The soundbed was 'Solaris XL' by Bryan El

You know those days when nothing works or goes right? Well, this recording was done on one of those. It was a struggle to start it, a struggle to get through it and a struggle to end it without something going amiss. Still, I managed somehow. The music's great, even if the host is a bit on the flakey side this week...

Go Tell Apollo - Catch 22

This Is Lizzard - Won't Give Up

The Easton Ellises - Ersatz / SexDrugsRockandRoll

The soundbed was 'Phote' by SFT
Three From Leith theme-tune by Alex Aitken

Not just a great local podcast, a great podcast full stop. Really eclectic mix of bands from all over, complemented nicely by Grant's laid back, chilled out tones. Top fella, top show.

One of the best music podcasts. As simple as that. Grant is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Oh, and he plays good music.

TFL is one of the podcasts I recommend to new podcast listeners.

The thing I like most about Three From Leith is the warmth of the music and chat between tracks. This is not like those repackaged podcasts of Radio 1 shows that someone compiles as a job, this is a genuine labour of love that Grant produces because of the quality of the music and the desire to give these bands a wider stage. Three From Leith is the perfect show to listen to after a hard stressful day at work when you want to relax and have your eardrums massaged. The Scotch Broth of podcasts (in the nicest possible sense).

Easily my favourite Scottish podcast, and the show I always look forward to seeing in my podcatcher. This podcast just goes from strength-to-strength, and Grant's easy, relaxed, presentation is something other podcasters can only dream of emulating. It's like catching up with a life-long friend.
