| What is Podcasting?
Put simply Podcasting is a method of broadcasting audio shows on the
internet.
To listen to these shows or Podcasts you can either:
- download the show and listen to it on an iPod for
example,
- or listen to to it directly on your computer while
connected to the internet
You could also drag your PC or MAC and cables with you on the bus
to listen on the move but understandably this method has not caught
on.
Podcasting is a revolution in accessible broadcasting. It enables
independent producers to create self-published radio shows (or
feeds), and gives these broadcast radio or television shows a new
and distribution method.
People browsing and listening to Podcasts also use special software
programmes, many of which are free (sometimes known as aggregators)
which checks for new shows of interest to the user and downloads the
shows as they become available removing the need to visit the
website for that feed to check for new content (see the RSS links on
this site).
What can you expect to hear? Well, everything that Podcasting people
throughout the world want to express themselves about. Its an
exploding medium that is quickly becoming popular throughout the UK
and Scotland.
